Waymo LLC is
the leading player in the market. The company is continuously delivering new
technologies. For instance, in December 2018, Waymo introduced commercial
self-driving service, Waymo One. At first, it would offer Waymo One to hundreds
of early riders who have already been using its technology. Over time, Waymo
One would be available to more people by adding more vehicles and drives in new
places.
Aptiv acquired nuTonomy to be a part of its automated mobility team in November 2017. The
acquisition is aimed at developing and executing self-driving vehicles. For
instance, in August 2016, nuTonomy launched its first-ever public trial of a
robo-taxi service. The trial, which would continue on an ongoing basis, was
held within Singapore’s one-north business district, where nuTonomy has been
conducting autonomous vehicle testing since April 2016. Also, In June 2017,
nuTonomy and Lyft announced a strategic R&D partnership focused on
understanding and optimizing the end-to-end experience of autonomous vehicle
passengers.
In January 2018, NAVYA introduced its AUTONOM CAB for the
first time in North America with live demonstrations in the downtown Las Vegas
Innovation District. As a valued partner, Keolis will be the first to operate
AUTONOM CAB service in North America. The AUTONOM CAB is capable of speeds up
to 55 m/h but will average closer to 30 m/h as it travels in urban areas, to
conform to local speed limits.
