March 2017, Continental started
production operations at a plant located in San Luis Potosi, Mexico with the
investment of USD 167 million. The plant is intended to manufacture hydraulic
brake systems with integrated solutions for actuation, modulation and brake
pressure, as well as providing information to the vehicle’s electronic systems. In July 2016, Continental announced
the opening of its test center in Yancheng,
Jiangsu Province, China. The test center is established with the intention to support the testing and validation
of safety products and systems such as electronic and hydraulic brake systems,
advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and tires. This is carried out with
the cooperation of China Automotive Technology & Research Center (CATARC).
Whereas, in March 2014, Continental completed construction of its manufacturing
facility located in Fletcher, North Carolina, US. The plant which is a part of
company’s Hydraulic Brake Systems Business Unit of Continental's Chassis &
Safety Division was intended to increase the production capacity and the
production of Electric Parking Brakes (EPB) locally. In August 2017, the company introduced the new cutting brake
technology MK C1 to serve highly automated driving (HAD). The MK C1 HAD system
which is equipped with the architecture of two networked braking system units
offers a stepped degradation concept. This ensures the required deceleration
level without driver interaction. Continental assures that with the combination
of the MK C1 and MK 100 based hydraulic brake extension (HBE), redundant
braking systems for highly automated driving can be installed
